The nucelear power station
Temperatures have ranged between – 2 and + 2 degrees and the day has been miserable with some snow.
Today the distance between Szeged and Bukarest in Rumania was planned. But traffic and the conditions were not what I expected and the average has been 50kph so we managed only 505 km of the planned 652 km. At 18:40 Swedish time we found a small hotel along the road where we are staying. We hope to celebrate New Year’s Eve with some belly-dancing in Turkey. On second thought it will probably be a celebration to the smell of liniment or in the best case tiger balm. I thought of a Bulgarian female athlete or why not a wrestler. With her own shaving kit. The roads are narrow and traffic heavy and 600kms a day seems impossible.
Had thought of losing it all in drink, but it’s better not to promise too much. Should it happen, it must be like in Arjeplog, where losing yourself could mean anything up to 7 days and we don’t have time for that. That would have been a proper party, though.
Passed a nuclear power station in Rumania today. I must say I was thinking about the demand for energy in Sweden. I held a lecture at a power station in the North about a month ago and could look over Forsmark 3. Made me think about hypocrosy: How much is energy worth?
There runs a heavy cable from Poland to Sweden and one from Finland to Sweden. Most Swedes beleive we only export electricity, but the truth is that the Finns are now building a nuclear station to export to us. In the winter we buy the same sort of power from Poland, so why can’t we have nuclear power of our own?
I remember hearing the shell protection being improved for a number of millions. In Rumania I estimate the shell to consist of rusted TRP 20 sheet metal. A worn air-gun would penetrate it, a BSA Meteor
