Trust,
control and raiding
Do you recognize yourself in this comment: „Christmas is a long
way off!“ My wife was away over the weekend and when I had breakfast
with my son Adrian, we suddenly realised it was time to light the
second advent candle. You understand? Four days after the fourth advent
Sunday I am going to North Cape and then I decided to spend the week
raiding.
To organise what I am planning calls for a man (or woman). After having
found sponsors of cars, bikes, organised carnet of passage, tyres,
clothes, spare parts, food, generator, water pumps, laptops, satellite
phones, camera, knee protectors, serum… it’s a long list.
The strange thing is that most suppliers seem to have installed a
permanent brake in their systems. I set up the following programme
with Peter Andersson at BMW.
Trust is good, control is better but raiding is best. I am now raiding
spare parts, clothes and tyres. Have checked the number of tyres needed
and hope it is possible to send tyres to Kenya. Otherwise there will
be a problem with space. In all Lukas, Ian and I will use up about
30 Metzeler tyres. We will use two types, TL Tourance for mostly roads
and MCE Karoo for mostly terrain.
