TRY-OUT

Finally the weather is perfect for a test ride. It is 16 below and I wear my Big Boy overalls: Singing “I’m a big, big boy in a big, big world…” I did 150 kilometres today and several layers of clothing seems to work. I still haven’t got hold of the electrically heated BWM vest but found it OK anyway. To do a whole day, the vest will be necessary though. My biggest problems to solve are inner gloves in my beaver hide gloves and solve the problem with the helmet.

An ordinary helmet fogs up the visor and a motocross helmet and goggles deepfreezes the brains after 100kms. Had I met a vacuum cleaner salesman, I’d have bought one.

That’s how strange you think with a cold head. An ordinary helmet but with Smiths goggles may be the solution. I’ll try that tomorrow. I am surprised how well the spiked tyres keep up. I ride with a rubber hand, but the spikes stick out 3-4mm. The front tyre is an enduro tyre with full spikes, but am now thinking of using the same spikes front as I have on the rear, it seems to keep better. Have now run-in the first bike and am now running-in Ian Lundin’s bike. I need to do 1000km service before I take off on December 22.
