| Before I left home I modified the attachment
for the exhaust system, but it became to stiff and vibrations
have caused small cracks. I was worried about hiring a Russian
mechanic to weld my nice bike, but I now realise that the low
quality of industrial products here, have created a talented
generation of mechanics. It is difficult not to be impressed
by these survival experts. |

| In the small villages up in the mountans, not
much has happened, even though the borders have opened. Lenin
is not in the top ten in Moscow, but here he is still present,
guarding and ruling everything happening in the village. |

Today we have run parallell with the Kazakstans border, towards
the East. It is a rich countryside that is very easy on the
eyes. When the roads invite to active riding, it is a difficult
choice, like the donkey between two stacks of hay. Gassing it
or stopping to take another picture? |

| Lukas and I were about an hour in front of the
cars and tried everywhere to find a place to stay the night,
without success. After a while I found a cabin resort, Scandinavian
style, but when I looked inside there were no bedclothes and
the only thing in there was simply junk. The standard made me
say I’d pay for the night. When we asked about the price
the answer was that we were welcome to stay the night for free.
Lukas was happily excited to see the face on Nash when he’d
see where he was supposed to sleep, no mattress, just board |

| When the sun set across the landscape, it was
like sitting at a lake in Scandinavia. |
