The
slaughter
| When we were to leave Tashkent, I had to think of Ian Lundin.
He easily found downtown Arvidsjaur. When we passed Hotel Laponia
he said: “OK, so this is downtown”. Locating downtown
Tashkent is more difficult. We drove for miles and it all looked
the same, the place must be at least 50kms wide. Being a taxi
driver here without GPS must be the ultimate challenge |
 |
| In Uzbekistan it’s slaughter time. We saw
many people working to get the hay in. Most work seemed to be
done in the old-fashioned way and they even harvest whatever
grows along the road. This reminds me of my father’s stories
from the ‘30s. |
 |
| Prejudices are just that – never true. Through the media
I had a negative picture of Kirgizistan, but the border crossing,
getting in, was the easiest we’ve had. People are friendly
and I feel very secure here. One problem with being away from
Eva such a long time, is that all women become more and more
beautiful, the further we get :-) |
 |
There
is a big lake in the middle of Kirgizistan, where Lukas and
I stayed for the night. We were lucky with the weather. A few
minutes after we had a roof over our heads, the rains came,
a storm.
