The
heat is on!
| Today we drove between Ashkhabad and Turkmenabat.
The distance was about 630kms straight through a desert. Both
Lukas and Cam worried that they’d get bored riding in
a straight line the whole day, but they would have their fun
later in the day. |
 |
After about 200kms we met both service cars coming towards us. They
had asked a policeman for directions and he had said we were going
the wrong way. Sofar, everbody agreed, but then the opinions varied.
I was first of the bikes and found a road that I maintain was the
biggest main road in Turkmenistan. Maybe it even was the original
Silk Road! Cam and Lukas were not as certain that we were on some
sort of main road. Here are some photos from the discovery. Note that
Turkmenistan’s road authorities ought to get some chain saws
in and clear it, now that I have finally found it ? Traffic intensity
was definitely reduced after this section.
| Lunch was taken in a café
behind a service station and above the curtains was a swallow’s
nest. I wonder what the health authorities in Sweden would have
to say about that? |
 |
The day was the hottest till now and Lukas, who had been to the British
Club in Ashkhbad the night before and had one or several beers too
many – or too late at night – suffered the first hours
of the day.
One original Swede catalogued, like Linneaus, all deseases he could
think of. After a life full of experiences from how the human being
works, he found that were really only three categories. He did not
know any Latin, so here they are in English.
1. Hangover
2. Envy
3. Illness you can die of.
| According to unsubstantiated information, Lukas
suffered from category 1. |
